Introduction

Sak-Wi is the Cherokee Indian name for the Soque River, a mostly private, well-managed, trophy trout stream formed by waters flowing out of the Burton Wildlife Area in NE Georgia (recently featured on CBS's Good Morning America). Set in an area rich with gin-clear waters and majestic mountains, our rivers have long beckoned trout anglers from all over the world.

The Blue Ridge mountains serve as the source of rivers that produce some of the largest wild trout caught anywhere south of Alaska. Sak-Wi is near 3 major rivers legendary in fishing lore - the Chattahoochee, the Chattooga & the Soque. Each river has been cited by experts as equal to any trout venue in the US. The Chattooga is the scenic river featured in the movie "Deliverance", and the Soque was featured on the TV sport show Backroad Adventures. Football great Steve Bartkowski called the Soque "one of the best trout streams in the Southeast", and "Outdoor Life" magazine named the Chattahoochee the 3rd best fly-fishing destination in the South.

Services

Sak-Wi offers a wide variety of fishing and sporting services, amidst a region rich in recreational and cultural activities. We have guides who can take the expert or novice fly-fisher to miles of rivers in gorgeous settings in search of the ultimate catch, from champion size Rainbow and Browns to wild Brook trout. After fishing, you can enjoy boating, horseback riding, trekking, biking, golf and hunting. The Appalachian Trail is within easy reach and we can arrange wilderness trips into the National Forest.

Sak-Wi has luxury accommodations and amenities in lodges, B&Bs or rustic cabins. We customize theme plans for individuals, groups or corporate retreats, including consultation, facilities and tours. Packages vary from fly-fishing lessons and guided trout fishing, to boat rental and events. We also offer guides for other sports. Costs depend on length of stay, equipment and activities chosen.

Sak-Wi has successfully managed excursions for many well-known organizations, including Gray's Sporting Journal, Reeltree, Remingtons, Ernst & Young, Ducks Unlimited, Western Fly-Fishers Association and FFF club members. We have organized expeditions to Europe and the American West, and we have partners who conduct trips to Patagonia, Russia and Canada.
